Memorial Day Weekend Recap

Hey everyone! I hope you had a great weekend! Ours was just perfect!

Friday, we had Camden's 1 year pictures taken:

Then Addison had a dentist appt and we went to dinner at my parents' house and visited with the family that was in town.

Saturday was Camden's party.

Sunday we relaxed around the house, swam with the neighbors
and went to dinner to celebrate Camden's actual birthday:

I got in my run yesterday morning
Then we did some quick shopping before having a cookout at my sisters house (where I took no pictures 😔) but I did get a pic of the patriotic strawberries I made:

We leave for Disney World in less than 2 weeks, so I am in full planning/packing mode until then. If you need me, I will be in a closet somewhere picking out everyone's clothes, or the camper packing everything up!

Does anyone have any fun trips planned for the Summer?

So long for today...

Weekly Food & Fitness Plan #39

Good morning everyone! Hope you're enjoying your long weekend! We are having a wonderfully busy weekend. Today is Camden's first birthday. This year has been the fastest year ever! Time started to fly when I had Addison, but I think this last year has gone twice as fast. We had Camden's birthday party yesterday. Everyone was healthy and the weather was beautiful. It was such a happy day. Our family and friends came out to celebrate with us. It was just about perfect.

I'm not quite sure yet what we have planned for today except going out to dinner later tonight. We might just do something crazy and relax at home with the birthday boy and his sister. Lol!

I saw a recipe for fajita kebabs, so I think I will try them both this week.  Here is what I have planned:

FOOD:
Sunday - Dinner out for Camden's Birthday
Monday - Memorial Day Cookout
Tuesday -  French Dip Cupcakes
Wednesday -  Sweet Baby Rays Chicken
Thursday - Chicken Fajita Kebabs
Friday - Leftovers
Saturday - Steak Fajita Kebabs

FITNESS:
Sunday - 3 mile run
Monday - 3 mile run
Tuesday - Ripped in 30
Wednesday - Ripped in 30
Thursday - Ripped in 30
Friday - Yoga Meltdown
Saturday - 3 mile run

I hope you all have a very safe and Happy Memorial Day!

So long for today...

Sick Day

What a week it's been! Things still haven't slowed down around here. We had the busiest weekend ever and I was hoping for a slower week before the birthday party this weekend, but that's not what I got. We made a trip to my parents house to take care of their lawn so that they wouldn't have to worry about it once they got back into town today.
I was looking forward to having the next evening off to just stay at home and relax, maybe catch our breath. But we didn't have the chance to do that because Camden ended up being sick that day. I called the dr and he called in an antibiotic prescription for him, so hopefully that will take care of it. He doesn't usually do that, but since TC and I both had strep throat last week, we are assuming its the same thing. Luckily, my BIL was able to watch him for us. I guess they had a pretty good time, too judging from the pictures he sent me. So that evening, we had to make the trip down to pick him up and decided to go out to dinner down there so the girls could play together.

Yesterday seemed to hold some promise since Camden seemed to be feeling better yesterday morning, but unfortunately, I ended up going to pick Camden up from daycare early because he wasn't feeling well. He did get a 3 hour nap in at home yesteray afternoon, which I'm sure is just what he needed. And I was able to do Level 1 of Ripped in 30 while he napped.
He seems to be almost back to himself this morning and I took him to daycare again. Hoping he and I can both make it through the day :-)

My parents get back into town tonight and are coming over for dinner and then we're going to go to the strawberry patch and pick some berries. It makes me sad that strawberry season is almost over down here. Not sure how I'll get my fix.

We have another busy day tomorrow - Camden's one year pictures in the morning, a couple of places to visit to pick up some things for the weekend, and Addison has a dentist appointment in the afternoon. My cousins are coming in tomorrow evening for the party on Saturday. I also have to figure out when I'm going to make the cupcakes and Camden's smash cake for the party. Maybe after everyone goes to bed tomorrow night? We'll see.

I hope you all have a great day! What are your plans for Memorial Day weekend?

So long for today...

Reconnecting

I can't tell you how many times I started writing this post only do delete the whole first line and start over again. I was looking through some of my past blog posts and saw some that were just some lifestyle posts from when I first started blogging. I know my blog turned into pretty much a new recipe blog, which was fine, but to be honest with you, is pretty hard. It's hard finding new recipes to come up with, actually make and then take pictures of to create a blog post. When I first started blogging, I did it because I thought that I had a pretty blogable life. (Yes, I just made up a word.) We tend to stay pretty busy in our daily lives and I thought it would be fun do talk about it on a blog. Plus, it helps me to keep a log of what we do and when we do it. That's actually come in handy sometimes when we were trying to remember when we did something a couple of years ago.

So I've decided that I will get back to my roots and start doing more lifestyle blogging about our daily life. Will I get back to my daily posts? Probably not, but this way, I will be able to do a couple of posts a week and reconnect with my followers. I really like interacting with you guys through my blog. If you ever have ideas for recipes, workouts or anything else you would like me to try/discuss, I am always open to ideas. And don't worry. I will still be sharing some of the recipes that I try.

So I will hope you will bear with me during this new transition for SLY and I hope it's something that we will all enjoy and help us to get to know each other a little bit better.

So long for today...

Vega Bars Review

A couple of weeks ago, I was lucky enough to receive some Vega Bars to review. This is one of the perks of being a  Sweat Pink Ambassador.

Vega sent me eight different varieties. I received two each of the VegaOne All-in-One Meal Bar, Vega Snack Bar, Vega Sport Energy Bar and Vega Sport Protein Bar.

One of the great things about these bars is that they're gluten free, plant based, non- GMO and don't include whey protein. I've been trying to include more natural/whole foods in my diet and these fit right in. These are also great for anyone that has food allergies or other sensitivities to certain ingredients.

So how do they taste? My favorite, hands down, was the Apple Cherry Sport Energy Bar. The flavor was so good! I liked the texture, too. Sometimes, energy bars can be pretty bad.

I was having a day at work where I wanted to eat everything in sight. I pulled open my desk drawer and found my stash of Vega Bars. I decided to try the Dark Chocolate Mixed Nuts and Sea Salt. It was delicious and it stopped my hinder right away. I made it the rest of the afternoon without eating a thing!

I'm not usually a fan of meal replacement bars, but I do understand that when you're crunched for time, it can be hard to eat well. These bars would be great. I did have one for breakfast one day and it kept me full until I had a chance to grab my morning snack, which is usually fruit. So these would be nice to have on hand for those days.

To be completely honest, I wasn't a fan of the protein bars. They seemed to have a gritty texture that I just didn't care for. If I'm going to be using up some points on a protein bar, I want to make sure it's good.

Overall, I really liked these bars. I will definitely be getting some more of them once I'm able to find them in stores. You can find out more about about the Vega company here.

Weekly Food & Fitness Plan #36

Happy Sunday everyone! I hope you're all having a great weekend! We had Addison's birthday party yesterday, so we have been pretty busy around here lately. We had perfect weather for the party, too! We ate too much and visited for most of the day. Addison had a blast and so did the other kids that were there. We had a jump castle, snow cone maker and cotton candy machine. I think I might have eaten my weight in cotton candy yesterday! Definitely not good for my waistline, but you're only young once, right? Oh wait...

So let's talk about my plan for this week:

FOOD:
Sunday - Slow Cooker Pork Tenderloin
Monday - Taco Cupcakes
Tuesday - Spaghetti & Meatballs
Wednesday - Slow Cooker Salsa Chicken
Thursday - Grilled Kielbasa Sandwiches
Friday - Leftovers
Saturday - Charleston Battery Game

FITNESS:
I had the best of intentions last week. I was pretty excited after the great week I had the previous week. But I ended up injuring my hip. When I took Camden to the dr on Friday, I mentioned it to the NP. She said it was most likely a sprain of my hip flexor and that it would probably hurt for up to 6 weeks. She told me not to run or do anything that really puts stress of it. So there goes my running for a while. She did tell me I could do yoga to stretch it if I could tolerate the pain. So this week, I'm planning to do some yoga and get some walks in as my exercise. This is probably how it will be until my hip feels better.

I hope you all have a great week and a fantastic Sunday, too!

So long for today...
